Hawzah News Agency- The library was established by a benefactor interested in promoting Ahl al-Bayt science and thought. The late Seyyed Saeed Tabatabaei Naeini was a scholar who founded a library called "Goharshad Comprehensive Library" in the vicinity of Imam Reza holy tomb in 1953.
Tabatabaei Naeini also endowed five thousand manuscripts, lithographic texts, print books and a number of his personal properties for running newly established library.
Since 2010 and with regard to increasing number of members as well as students of Islamic sciences, Goharshad Comprehensive Library continued its activities under the new title Ahl al-Bayt Library and in a round the clock cycle.
For easier access of scholars and clients, books at this library have been categorized in two separate halls of “conduct and history of Ahl al-Bayt (AS)” and “sciences and teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (AS)”. Electronic Ahl al-Bayt Library also offers special services to community of researchers.
On the eve of the 70th establishment anniversary of the library, the center is enjoying a treasure with over three thousand manuscripts, more than three thousand lithographic texts, and over 115 thousand print books. Also, five titles of journals, 520 copies of dissertations, 1760 CDs and audio-visual products, and more than 130 thousand electronic sources are among up-to-date scientific resources of this collection to meet the needs of 19 thousand members of the library.
Specialized Ahl al-Bayt Library offers different services such as access to internet services, specialized journals and specialized software to all groups of people including researchers, students, professors, and ordinary people.
